Party Planning 101

Hey guys!

Anyone who knows me well knows I love to plan parties.

Not necessarily huge shakers or anything, but birthdays, girls nights, dinners, I just love bringing people together and planning something a little bit special.

I mean who doesn’t love to get the girls together for some wine and cheese?

I thought today I would talk a little bit about some of the steps I take when it comes to planning something fun with friends or family (or both!) because let’s face it, this stuff takes effort and a bit of work!

The first thing I tend to do is think about what the occasion is, whether its just a girls night, a pool party, a dinner (all things I’ve planned in the past). This leads to the second thing I think about, food.

Realistically I am always thinking about food either way…

After you find out how many people you should roughly be expecting, I find that figuring out what I want to serve makes it easy to plan the rest of the party!

I decide whether I want to do a full blown meal, hot or cold apps, meats and cheese, chips and dip, a veggie tray, basically what am I serving to my guests.

Staying organized is the key!

Also, when your guests ask if they can bring anything, don’t be afraid to say yes! Sometimes it is nice to have a little help, and it’s as easy as them bringing along a bottle of wine, a board game for everyone to play, or some fruit.

Anyways…while I do this is make lists – honestly I write everything down. Some people use their phones, however I prefer to do this on paper just because then I feel like I am actually remembering it opposed to just having the list in my phone.

I write down whose coming, what I need to get at the grocery store, alcohol I may need, etc.

Next I think about special touches to the event. Whether that is cute paper straws, a custom cocktail, a games night, name cards, anything really that just adds a little something. Again, this isn’t always necessary but if you want to add a special something this is where you can add some creative fun!

And finally ENJOY! The older I get the more and more I appreciate being able to stay in and do fun things at home with friends and family. I personally love putting together a fun night or a daytime pool party at my house – can you tell?
